Determination is Nothing Without Passion

Well hello there! Welcome to the first post in my Life category. This is basically a section of my blog where I can talk about all things lifestyle (basically posts that don’t fit under the other categories 😉). I might talk about home decor, general thoughts, some diary entry style blog posts or anything that I feel suits! So today I want to talk about something that I have been thinking about a lot lately, and that is that determination is nothing without passion!

I am a dancer, this means I spend a lot of time in a sometimes competitive environment and that for me, pain, blood, blisters and running out of deep heat, means that I have worked hard and that I am improving. But I then have to return to class the next day and am expected to still give it 100%. A lot of sports involve a lot of painful improvement and as the years go on, the ones with determination are left standing. It is a strong theory of mine, that if you put two children in the same sport with one kid who all they think about is this sport, and the other with strong levels of determination, the passionate kid may be lead to higher success. Honestly, I believe that real success is gained by the power that forms when determination and passion are used hand in hand.

I am definitely not the best dancer in my class, nor am I the most determined. But all I can think about is dancing. I hear a song and immediately in my head I think of what a great dance it could make. I have a spare moment at home, and I am up in a room dancing, stretching, practicing, improving. This is because I have been lucky enough to find a true passion in something from a young age. This means, that the determination comes naturally. If you put a highly intelligent and persistent kid in a dancing environment, but they didn’t truly have a passion for dancing, their training could go to waste. I think this means that it is so important to find something that you are passionate about, whether you can make a career out of it, or if it means that in your spare time you relax by doing this activity. For me, other then dancing, writing is my passion as well as giving advice. This is why I have this blog. I don’t have a ton of followers or readers, but that is not why I continue to post on here. For me, that doesn’t dictate anything. I post on here because I finally found a way to get my words out there into the world and possibly help others. I have a passion for this blog, and because of this, I now have determination to not let anything stop me from doing what I love. I think all of my readers should do the same thing.

I know this post is a bit of a shamble, but you (as the reader) can take away whatever you want from this. You can take away that you should persist with that activity that you love doing but you gave up because you thought you would never be good at it. You can take this as a sign, to stop procrastinating from starting something that you are passionate about. Or you can simply just read this and think about something you have never thought about before. Maybe this is the simple way to success. Maybe if you have passion, success doesn’t matter at all. All I want to grain from posting this is to share that I truly believe that, in such a competitive world where there is always someone better, stronger, prettier, taller, smarter, some people could only dream of having passion. And you reading this have passion for something, I know you do, so use it for the greater good.

I hope this has opened someones eyes and that it makes sense, but I had this thought the other day and had to share it. I hope you are having a lovely day and see you in my next post!

Much love,

Sophia xx
